CIRAD is a French development-oriented agricultural research organisation serving the tropical and subtropical areas. The centre employs 1800 persons, including 900 senior engineers and researchers, who regularly work in more than 50 countries.
Its activities on cotton correspond to technical disciplines and cover transversal approach in dealing with cotton production in a furthermore globalized world.

It just coordinated a European INCO project tackling the production of biodegradable plastic film made from proteins of cotton seed kernels.
Its Laboratory of cotton fibre technology is internationally acknowledged. It is involved for a second time to a new project, funded by the Common Fund for Commodities (CFC) and other organizations, dealing with cotton classing and modernisation.
Dr Michel FOK is ensuring the whole coordination of the ISSCRI Project. He is implementing research on the topic of cotton and development for fifteeen years.
