Objectives

The global objective of the project is to promote a participatory and scientific approach in adjusting the CAP reform,

through the cotton case, in compliance with the EU international commitments.

Owing to the large scope of the cotton international outlook, the Project, as a SSP contribution of short duration and reduced means, will concentrate on the Europe-Africa facet of this outlook, in consistence with the European policy towards developing countries.

This global objective depends on the completion of three articulated specific objectives:

·Launching self-sustained national processes of interaction with EU Cotton Policy.

·Contributing to international mutual understanding on cotton production, in particular between Europe and Africa.

·Setting up a cotton sector specific research network on socio-economic issues.

The three specific objectives are inter-independent since each one should provide valuable inputs to the completion of the other ones.
