Research network

The set up of a new research network specific to cotton socio-economic issues will contribute to producing scientifically-based policy orientation and scientifically supporting EU policy making. It targets at launching a process of concentrating and organizing social science research works according to the commodity sector they pertained to. It fills the gap of setting up a European research network in the area of social sciences to provide permanent support to EU policy makers.

The nucleus of this network will be formed at the inception of the Project.

Members will commit with feeding a new data base of literature references associated with the socio-economic aspects of cotton production. Such a data base will hence be both origin and effect of the new research network. A specific computer tool will be carried out to enable decentralized and multi-lingual use of the reference data base.

The network will constitute a pool of scientists

to provide information and references on existing research works or to implement additional studies, notably on the impacts of the NCP in Europe.
