References were recorded by the ISSCRI Project partners by using an original referencing tool though Internet. This documents informs about this tool. It is expected that more people could contribute to feed the data base of references by using the existing tool.

Report on the evolution of the European cotton policy and the first impacts of the latest reform

The report presents the evolution of the European Union cotton policy throughout years. Five stages are identified until the last reform decided in 2004 and implemented in 2006. An overview of the European cotton sector is provided and the major impacts of the new cotton reform, as they are presented in studies conducted in the EU, are discussed.

A conference having reached the international dimension it targeted at.

The conference on the rationales and evolutions of cotton policies was an active conference with many questions raised after the presentations. The exchanges were mainly friendly-oriented. Amazingly, through their reactions, the African participants did show concern about the production reduction following the implementation of the New Cotton Policy in Europe. The conference has helped to capture the global picture of cotton policy, through technical and non-technical aspects. There is need for the State to play a role, in particular to deal with many internal issues hampering the cotton sector development, while the Cotton Dossier is dealt with at the international arena.
