The ISSCRI Project targets at setting up a data base of literature references which is specific to cotton production and processing. The hierarchic thesaurus being contemplated to categorise literature references is hence cotton-specific, but the concept of hierarchic thesaurus is not.
A first version should be finalized by June 2007.
As a matter of example, "living and livelihood" is am important society topic which can be split into several subtopics like women's living or cotton income.
The first one leads to key issues like women's contribution to production while the second call upon key issues like income evolution, income distribution, stability or security.
For the income stability, relevant keywords can be "price stability" and "Income support payments".
