Giving access to various sources and leaving each one make his/her own mind
We aim at reporting the interactions between stakeholders about topics related to cotton policies in the wide sense. We are doing so through what come out newspapers and we are not taking position. We establish links with the original sources, which are in various languages, and we try to summarize as objectively as possible the contents of the articles (this is not an easy task). Besides, we try to inform about articles from both positive or negative perspective.
Easier access to data and information related to the cotton sector
The interprofessional organization of the cotton sector has set up a web site destined to share the sector statistics and the information on the sector policy and impacts, notably through recent reports and studies.
The cotton sector is organizing itself to protest against the EC proposal of cotton policy reform
A cotton sectoral platform has been set up recently. It is materialized through a web site destined to report the Spanish cotton stakeholders' feelings about the European cotton policy and its impacts. The "Manifest" clearly points out the arguments sustaining the opposition to the new proposal of the European Commission to reform cotton policy.
The cotton sector stakeholders have interacted on the purchase price mechanism for the interim period before privatization
The interaction process was initiated by the Cotton Sector Restructuring Mission. The former agreement between the Government, the national cotton company and the farmers' organizations has ended up at the last campaign. The conclusions of an independent appraisal of the agreement were introduced to the sector stakeholders. The discussions led the cotton growers to consider proposing a purchase price of FCFA 200-225/kg.

Objectives of the National Cotton Council: more payment with less constraints to producers
NCC is fighting to prevent cotton producers facing payment limits or increased standards for eligibility for program benefits. It defends the idea of safety net consisted of unlimited access to a marketing loan with redemption at the adjusted world price. The implementation of counter-cyclical payment decoupled from production with the direct payment remains the cornerstone of cotton policy.

Cotton bales, balls of a tripartite game between input provider, cotton company and cotton grower organisation
The decision of handing over the acquisition of inputs to the cotton grower organization is leading to an unbelievable situation. An input supplier has achieved blocking the Malian cotton company's cotton bales in Cote d'Ivoire harbour, expecting to be paid for the inputs its had supplied to the cotton grower organization. The Malian cotton company succeeds in unblocking its bales.
