Giving access to various sources and leaving each one make his/her own mind
We aim at reporting the interactions between stakeholders about topics related to cotton policies in the wide sense. We are doing so through what come out newspapers and we are not taking position. We establish links with the original sources, which are in various languages, and we try to summarize as objectively as possible the contents of the articles (this is not an easy task). Besides, we try to inform about articles from both positive or negative perspective.
ISSCRI Seminar, Volos (Greece), May 18, 2007
As scheduled, national seminars are organized in Greece and in Spain after the completion of individual interviews of the main cotton sector stakeholders. The seminar stage is destined to assist in collective discussions of the topics of main concern.
In Greece, the seminar will take place in Volos and discussions will cover the issues of decoupling, role of cooperatives, cotton future...according to the tentative agenda
Individual interviews of cotton stakeholders are underway in Greece and Spain
The implementation of the ISSCRI has started with the implementation of individual interviews of selected stakeholders. These interviews should end up by mid-April in Greece but will take longer time in Spain
ISSCRI Project presented to the ACA Annual Meeting
Dr Michel FOK, Project Coordinator, has taken part to the 5th Annual meeting of the African Cotton Association in Accra (Ghana), March 22-24, 2007. Participants have been informed about the ISSCRI Project whose flyers have been distributed. They also welcome the organization of an international cotton conference enabling to hear about the evolution of cotton policies in various countries.

A governmental reaction against a new threat
The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock (Minfal) has decided to start a project to control the attack of mealy bug on the cotton crop. This pest was observed for the first time in Pakistan in 2005 and is spreading rapidly in the country.
