Giving access to various sources and leaving each one make his/her own mind
We aim at reporting the interactions between stakeholders about topics related to cotton policies in the wide sense. We are doing so through what come out newspapers and we are not taking position. We establish links with the original sources, which are in various languages, and we try to summarize as objectively as possible the contents of the articles (this is not an easy task). Besides, we try to inform about articles from both positive or negative perspective.
Cotton growers now must comply with cultivation practices and harvest
The Ministry of agriculture has issued these conditions, in terms of plantation densities and harvest implementation which were not speficied in the former cotton reform. It is claimed that these conditions have resulted from discussions with cotton sector stakeholders.

Pending release of Bt cotton is officially announced at Press conference
It is announced that the Governement and Monsanto have reached an agreement on the financial conditions for the commercial release of Bt-cotton. It is claimed that benefit mainly remains with the local stakeholders of the cotton sector, with no detail unveiled.

Controversy continues on the GM cotton in the Makhathini Flats
Two versions are opposing about the outcomes of the use of Bt-cotton. Through the farmers' statements, it's clear that they are facing many troubles beyond the issue of GM crops.

A slight change of attitude on GM rice is reported from the Government
It is argued that the high price of food in China is pushing the Government to become more open to using GM rice. When its release will come out remains hard to predict.
